so much to do, so little time

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Brett has a 10 day vacation in April, and we’re trying to figure out something to do.  We have the option of going to the Cape with my family and my Uncle’s family for a long weekend, but we’d like to do something ourselves.  We could also potentially go to Cali, but then we’d be around friends and family all week (or weekend).  I would love to go on a vacation with just Brett, but there is absolutely nothing cool to do around here.  I checked on Myrtle Beach, but it would be almost a 2 day drive, and if we flew, the airport is 2 hours away.  So there goes that idea.  Florida was too expensive.  We can’t go out of the country because my passport is expired.

I would like to do something cheap so we can go on a really cool vacation later in the year when I have a new passport.  Some place really neat, like Europe.  Brett’s friend Brett (yes, he has a friend with the same name) is in Italy with his wife right now.  For a month.  FOR A MONTH!  Lucky son of a gun!  He’s been posting pictures on his flickr and they’re really, really cool.  (Not to mention that I need to find out what kind of camera he uses because the quality is amazing)

There are two types of vacations I need to go on in the near future.  1)  A tropical island vacation.  I need the water, the beach, the warmth, the sun, the palm trees, the frozen drinks, the escape and relaxation.  2)  A cultural vacation.  I want to go someplace with history, with amazing architecture.  Some place that isn’t necessarily as relaxing as lying on a beach for a week, but is a jaw dropping, awe inspiring, cultural experience.

But before I can plan a vacation for later in the year, I have to plan something for late April.  Anyone have any ideas?

Here’s pictures from Shannon and Courtney’s visit.  We had a great time and I’m so glad they came!

Easter dinner:

R.U.B. BBQ:

Crocodile Lounge:

The Back Room: (a speakeasy where the beer bottles are served in paper bags, cocktails in cups & saucers, and a hidden room behind the bookcase!)

Little Italy: (such a good looking family!)

I’m so exhausted now.  I can’t wait to sleep in this weekend!

Wow, was last weekend tiring!  Brett’s sister Shannon and her friend Courtney are visiting for four days.  Thursday and Friday night were spent picking up things at Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Stop & Shop.  We cleaned all day on Saturday and made sure everything was set for their visit.  Shannon and Courtney landed around 5pm and we feasted on a big dinner I made of ham, delmonico potatoes and roasted garlic asparaus.  We rounded out the meal with lots of wine!  I’ll have pictures of their visit at the end of the week.

I traveled back to Waltham this past weekend to see my family, friends and the Dropkick Murphys.

Brett and I hung out at Christina’s on Friday night.  Court & Cort were there too.  The night was filled with drinks, stories, laughter and finger snappin.  It was seriously one of the best nights I’ve had in a long time.  I miss those girls so much!!!

Saturday night was spent in Lowell at the Dropkick show.  That show was one of the best I’ve been to in a while.  They certainly know how to put on a performance.  First came the team of bagpipes, and followed with little girls Irish step dancing, the UMass Lowell choir, Berklee students on strings, balloons and confettii.  Oh, and a message on the jumbo-tron from Papelbon too.

Here’s a couple of pictures Brett took during the song “Kiss Me I’m Shitfaced”:

My mom is the best.  She gave us a care package filled with Girl Scout cookies, Chateau sauce and dressing!  Gotta love her.

So, my friend…we’ll call him Clitoris Rex and I have decided to start telling the world how much we suck as people.  Exept that I will always defend myself by saying that Clitoris Rex is so much worse than I am.  Here’s an example:

I was walking down the street with Mr. Rex one day.  I believe it was somewhere in Midtown.  So, we were walking down the street and this cute little old lady (someone’s grandma for sure) walks by us and he sticks out his foot and trips her.  HE TRIPPED GRANDMA!  The poor woman fell down and you know what he did?  He turned around and laughed at her.  HE LAUGHED AT HER!!!

Sometimes when it’s nice out, we’ll eat lunch on the benches in Rockefeller Center.  This one day, we were sitting on the bench eating lunch and all of a sudden, he opens up his sandwich and smushes it in my face, and spills my soup all over me.  The soup spilling was not a result of my face being pushed into a sandwich, he took the soup out of my hands and spilled it all over me!  I had to go back into work with soup all over me, and mustard in my hair so I could tell my boss that I needed to go home and change.

 What an ass.

Do not make friends with this guy.
