In your landfill days, these are desperate graves…

Looks like I’ve forgotten to update once again.

I’m currently sitting on my balcony, the sun beating against my skin, but a slight breeze every once in a while so I don’t overheat.  Wait.  Me.  Overheat?  I actually don’t think that’s ever happened.  And I’m not being sarcastic either.

Brett and I went into the city today for the Big Apple BBQ.  Tons of BBQ vendors, waaaaaaaay too many people.  Needless to say, we didn’t wait in any lines for food.  We decided to head to the auto mat instead.  Oh, but when we got there…it wasn’t there!  Gone.  Not open.  Not even a sign.  Of course!!  So, we decided to make our own Big Apple BBQ at Dallas BBQ instead.  I think Brett’s in a food coma now; he’s taking a nap.

Other updates?

Hmmm.  Well, I can’t wait till the new Mars Volta record comes out.  It’s probably the only record I’m going to be excited about this year.  Unless Minus the Bear comes out with their new record.  Then, I’ll have two records to be excited about.  Music definitely sucks these days if I’m only excited about one, possibly two, records this year.

I suppose that’s all I feel like writing about right now.

humid

Written by admin on May 9th, 2009

Holy crud it’s been a while since I’ve updated.

It almost feels like summer right now.  The temperature is in the ’70s and humid, sort of windy.  Almost like the calm before the storm.  And I love it.  It’s 11:33pm and most people I’ve talked to feel uncomfortable sleeping in humid weather like this.  But I love it.  I absolutely love humid weather.  Whether it’s day or night, I love the hot, uncomfortable feeling it gives me.  So uncomfortable that I actually feel comfortable.  Tonight, I will sleep like a baby.

Run down of the past few months:

My hair is red (not for much longer though!)
I am now the proud owner of a Nikon D60.
I also got my uncle’s old Minolta SLR.
I’ve been to some shows.
The new House of Blues is amazing.
Wishing for warm weather and summer almost every day.
Came down with bronchitis.
Family came to visit for a weekend.

I suppose that’s it for now.  I’ll try to start posting some photos soon.

Let’s get physical…

This almost made me piss myself:

indecisive

Written by admin on November 23rd, 2008

that’s definitely a word that describes me.  indecisive.  about my job (what are my goals for the future?  no clue), about the wedding (colors?  centerpieces?  favors?)…those are just a couple of examples.  in regards to the wedding i can’t decide if i want something fancier (maybe aubergine and pale gold) or something a little more relaxed (reds, oranges, pale gold) with lots of candle light?  I have no idea at all.  At least I have time to decide.

Last night we had a wine and cheese night for my birthday.  My actual birthday will be spent at work and then driving, so we decided to do something this weekend.  First time I’ve ever had a meal of wine and cheese.  Not as exciting or elegant as it sounds.  It wasn’t bad, it just got…boring.

Wal-Mart Extravaganza yesterday.  My goal was to be in and out, and stick to the list.  When we go there, we always end up putting extra things into the cart, come out with a cart full of stuff (a lot of it food though) and $300 poorer.  This time, we were pretty much in and out, put a few extra things in our cart, but not much…and came out $264 poorer.  SERIOUSLY.  Not fair.  I guess it adds up when we buy 2 of every thing so that we don’t have to go back for like 6 months.

California in less than a month… can’t wait for warmer weather.  More importantly, I can’t wait to see my (future) in-laws and my best friend.  Pictures from the trip will be on here…probably facebook too.  And a select few will be on our wedding site…jessnbrett.com.  Learn it.  Know it.  Visit it.  Often.  :)

big news!

i’m engaged!

vacation time!!

Written by admin on October 9th, 2008

I go on vacation on Tuesday and could not be more excited.  I haven’t been to a tropical island since my senior trip to the Bahamas.  I’ll definetly be posting pictures and a recap when I get back.  In other news, the economy sucks and I feel lucky to have a job and a savings account.  This weekend will either make or break my 5-0 record in fantasy football.  Let’s hope I can make it 6-0!  I’m going up against the only other team that’s undefeated.  It’s a big week!

I’m thinking about getting a new phone, but all the phones from AT&T suck.  I have a blackberry for work, so I don’t want a phone like that… nor do I want the iPhone.  I was thinking about the Pantech Duo, but I haven’t seen that in person yet.  What I really want is that LG phone from Verizon, but even when it’s unlocked it apparently doesn’t work with AT&T.  And I’m not switching to Verizon, I get a better plan with AT&T.  Oh well!

autumn is approaching…

Written by admin on September 7th, 2008

i hate the feeling of summer ending and autumn beginning.  the air is different…it’s still warm, but not humid.  there is no longer a desire to go to the beach, no longer a desire to get a tan (although i don’t want my current one to go away).  there’s no longer a desire to do all those summer things.  at least I’ll get another taste of summer when we go to puerto rico in October.

the changing of the seasons has made me reflect on how much I’ve changed over the past couple of years.  no longer do i want to participate in any petty drama between friends.  instead, i’d rather trade recipes!  it’s weird realizing that i’m growing up.  even down to the little things such as how i dress.  i’m stuck in between dressing like a 21 year old and dressing my age.  a 25 (almost 26!) year-old shouldn’t be wearing band t-shirts and flip flops all the time.  i guess i’m sort of struggling on how to dress my age, but still keep my personality.  i’m thinking i need to go on the tv show “what not to wear.”  i’m thinking i need some serious professional help – professional styling help that is!

my interests have changed too.  i’m no longer spending all my money on impulse purchases, driving all over new england just to go to a concert, or blowing all my cash at a bar.  instead, i’m more concerned with what i’m going to make for dinner this week,  settling down for a night of netflix and a couple of beers with brett, watching all the wedding shows on the we network (i blame my friends on this, they’re all getting married!) and what kinds of things i need to save my money for.  most importantly, i’m more concerned with “we” instead of “me.”

so, in grown up fashion, here’s what i’m currently excited about:  my new crock pot.  yes, a crock pot.  the first thing i’m making is a beer beef stew.  i cut up all the veggies today so that i can just throw everything in the crock pot tomorrow morning, turn it on, and have dinner be done when i get home from work.  i’ve found some other recipes that i can’t wait to try out.  i think this crock pot will be perfect for the winter.  what else could be more perfect than a warm bowl of beef stew or chili on a cold winter night?

brett and i were pretty busy this summer.  he worked a lot, and we went to plenty of weddings.  i think his cousin’s wedding was by far my favorite.  it was held up in the finger lakes, and it was one of the most relaxing weekends i’ve ever had.  we went on a wine tasting to two different wineries and had a blast.  the ceremony was over looking the lake, and the reception was at a barn.  we had the best bbq i’ve ever tasted and there was nothing around except for corn fields and vineyards.  it was absolutely gorgeous and stress free.  we also went back to waltham a lot, for courtney and shannon’s weddings and bachelorette parties.  we’ll be back again in a couple of weeks for katie and warren’s wedding and again in october for my cousin’s wedding.  we were able to get to the beach a few times and went on a sunset cruise on the hudson.

so long summer!

so much to do, so little time

Written by admin on July 6th, 2008

4th of July was pretty quiet.  We didn’t end up doing anything because the weather was pretty gross.  We didn’t want to go anywhere and then have it start raining and be stuck outside.  I made some BBQ chicken and pasta salad, so we had a cook-in.  It started to rain at night, but there were some pretty good fireworks that we could see from our bedroom window.  It was pretty nice to watch some fireworks and not get wet!  I was able to take a couple of pictures of the fireworks.  Since the screen was in the way, and I was so far away, they didn’t turn out so well.  I do like this first one though; it looks like I photo shopped the little stars in, but I didn’t!

I wish I had more time in my day to do things that I want to do.  I would love to be able to take some dance classes during the week, but I just don’t have the time.  It takes about an hour to get to work, and an hour to get home, and working 10-7 means I have no time to do anything before work or after I get home.  And the last thing I want to do on the weekend is travel into the city.

Blahhh.

I need to get off this computer and get my ass in gear!
